Can a solar system work on cloudy days?

A solar system can only work properly if the solar panels can capture energy.
Solar panels need sunlight to generate energy using the photovoltaic effect. Sunlight travels to the panel in the form of photons. When a photon hits a solar cell, it dislodges electrons from the cell, creating electron space. Inside each cell are two wafers, one with phosphorus added to create free electrons and a negatively charged environment, and the other with boron added to create electron-acceptor holes and a positively charged environment.
When electron spaces are formed, the electric field within the cell moves the spaces to a positive environment and electrons to a negative environment. As the electrons travel the long distance back to their original location, it creates electricity for the photovoltaic system, which flows from the panels, through the inverter, and into your home.
Without sunlight to provide photons to the solar cells in a photovoltaic panel, energy cannot be captured. So can solar panels capture energy on cloudy days? Let's take a look

To determine whether a solar panel can work on a cloudy day, first determine whether there is sunshine on a cloudy day. The answer is yes, although it seems that there is no sunshine on a cloudy day, there is sunshine when there is light, and solar panels can obtain energy. So solar panels can still capture energy on cloudy days, although they're not as efficient as on sunny days. Most panels can only produce around 10-25% of their rated power on cloudy days.
