SOLON, Onyx Renewables has built a 2.9 MW solar carport in Mesa, Arizona

  • March 02, 2026
SOLON and Onyx Renewable Energy have completed four additional solar photovoltaic projects in Mesa, Arizona, with a total capacity of 2.9 megawatts for urban facilities.

These solar parking lot projects were completed in December and interconnected with the city's power utilities, bringing the total solar capacity from SOLON and Onyx projects to 3.7 megawatts. SOLON provides EPC services for all projects, while Onyx is responsible for providing funding for the system and will serve as the long-term owner and operator.

Connecting directly with Mesa Power Company enables these solar projects to bring immediate and long-term value to the community, "said Brian Seibel, SOLON President. At present, a capacity of 3.7 megawatts has been put into operation, and the city of Mesa is strengthening its energy resilience, reducing emissions, and keeping energy funds locally.

SOLON and Onyx previously collaborated to complete four solar projects for Mesa, with a total capacity of 806 kilowatts of direct current. These latest systems provide over 600 shaded parking spaces.

Onyx is proud to collaborate with SOLON to provide more affordable and predictable energy for the city of Mesa by developing these localized energy solutions, "said Patty Rollin, Chief Business Officer of Onyx Renewables. These systems are customized according to the unique goals of Mesa City and will help them reduce energy costs while enhancing the reliability and resilience of their local power grid.
