Tesla signs a PPA for a large-scale solar + storage project in Arizona

  • July 29, 2026
Tesla has signed a PPA agreement with ContourGlobal for the power supply of the Stirling Project, a 509-megawatt solar and 1.4-gigawatt-hour energy storage project located in Arizona.

The Stirling Project will commence construction in 2025, adhering to the subsidy deadline through offline physical work. It is expected to begin commercial operation in 2028.

"Ensuring our largest power procurement agreement to date... serves as proof of our ability to provide tailored solutions for our clients' energy needs," said Antonio Camisera, CEO of ContourGlobal. "This milestone is a remarkable achievement of our business team, who led company-wide efforts to secure this significant deal."

Located in Arizona and physically connected to the Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) grid, the Sterling project has direct point-to-point transmission rights, access to California's CAISO, and can establish pseudo-connections to meet Tesla's requirements.
