The Illinois school district invested in installing solar panels on three school buildings

Alliance Facilities Partners, a company providing design-build and performance contract services for K-12, municipal, and public sector organizations in Illinois and Wisconsin, has completed a district-wide rooftop solar project for the K-12 School District 26 in Cary, Illinois.

The project has been completed, including the installation of rooftop solar panels at three district-level facilities, with a total system capacity of 843 kilowatts. These systems are expected to generate approximately 990,654 kilowatt-hours annually, offsetting about 55% of the electricity consumption of these facilities.

"This project represents a significant long-term investment in the future of Carroll School District 26. By integrating solar installations with our ongoing roof and facility upgrades, we are enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of our buildings while responsibly managing district resources," said David Martin, Operations Coordinator for Carroll School District 26. "We are equally excited about the educational opportunities this project provides, offering our students and staff the chance to witness the practical operation of renewable energy and gain a deeper understanding of its impact on our community."

The solar array consists of 1,429 solar panels and 7 inverters. The project includes final system design, structural engineering, utility grid integration, permitting, equipment procurement, installation, commissioning, personnel training, and cloud-based performance monitoring.

As part of the project, Allied coordinated renewable energy credit applications, utility incentive programs, and other available funding opportunities to help maximize the region's return on investment. The project also included a public-facing energy dashboard that displays real-time solar generation and system performance.

The project enables the region to support long-term investments by ensuring the delivery of Guaranteed Energy Savings Contracts (GESC), while implementing comprehensive energy-saving retrofits and leveraging projected energy and operational savings.
