LevelTen Energy has released its quarterly PPA pricing index for North America and released full-year data through 2023. The company operates a PPA marketplace with more than 900 project developers, energy consultants and distributors, as well as some of the world's largest buyers of clean energy. The report noted that the P25 price of the PPA increased by 3% in the fourth quarter and 15% for the full year 2023. The P25 pricing represents the 25th percent price offered by the developer in the contract, rather than the PPA price for the final transaction. LevelTen reports that the regional picture for the U.S. solar market is mixed. P25 prices at CAISO, a regional grid operator in California, rose 15 percent, while other markets saw declines.
Vegetaek, a French urban greening solution design company, has developed a "bio solar" roof for photovoltaic systems. This solution is compatible with existing or newly built green roofs, improving the thermal efficiency of the building and complying with France's 2021 climate and resilience standards, which require 30% of the roof area to be covered with green plants or solar energy. According to Adivet's data, this solution is aimed at developers and building owners, combining green roofs with photovoltaic panels to increase the efficiency of the panels by 12%. Vegetaek stated that the only limitation is the roof's ability to withstand the weight of the device.

A new 875 MW solar project in California is equipped with nearly 2 million solar panels that can provide more than 3 GWh of energy storage. This is the largest solar + storage project in the United States. The project is a true renewable energy giant that spans 4,600 acres and consists of 1.9 million American-made First Solar panels. It has 875 MWdc solar power capacity and nearly 3.3 GWh of energy storage capacity. It has 1.3GW interconnection capacity. The California grid expects to receive enough electricity from the project to power about 238,000 homes. It is estimated that 320,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions can be saved each year. The energy storage is composed of LG Chem, Samsung and BYD batteries. This engineering feat required 98 miles of medium-voltage wire, more than 361 miles of DC wire, and 120,720 batteries.
The Power Construction Corporation of China (PowerChina) has built a 480MW solar power plant in the Atacama Desert in northern Chile - the region with the highest levels of solar radiation in the world. According to the head of human resources and industrial relations of the Chile Renewable Energy Company of PowerChina, the new facility is the largest solar farm in Chile. The new power station covers 435 hectares and is built with 882,720 solar panels supplied by an undisclosed manufacturer. The project is connected to the national power system through a 9.6km transmission line at the Miraje substation. In June 2022, Generadora Metropolitana, a joint venture formed by Chile's electricity company AME and France's Electricity Group (EDF), began construction of the photovoltaic plant. At the end of 2021, they revealed that they had secured $980 million in financing, part of which would be invested in building solar power stations.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) says about 45 gigawatts of solar projects larger than 1 megawatt (AC) will be installed in 2024, while Wood Mackenzie estimates 8 GW of small solar projects. The agency said it expects that to increase to about 53 GW by 2025. EIA also said it expects utility-scale solar to account for 6 percent of total electricity generation in 2024 and 7 percent in 2025. This is in the context of a projected increase of 3% in total electricity generation in 2024 and maintained in 2025. It will remain unchanged in 2025. Small-scale solar power is expected to account for 2% of total power generation by 2024, increasing to 2.3% by 2025. This means that solar power will account for 8% of total electricity consumption in 2024 and 9.3% in 2025. By 2025, solar power will reach about 65 GW, and by 2026, solar power will account for nearly 11 percent of all electricity generation.
According to statistics from the UK's Department of Energy Security and Net Zero Emissions (DESNZ), as of the end of November 2023, the UK's cumulative photovoltaic power generation capacity reached 15.6 GW. In the first 11 months of this year, 871 MW of PV systems were added in the UK. This is a significant increase compared to the 496.8 MW added in the first 11 months of 2022 and 323.9 MW added in the same period of 2021. But a spokesman for the UK Solar Industry Association said that the new solar capacity in the UK in 2023 is larger than the DESNZ data, and is likely to exceed 1 GW. The last time the UK deployed more than 1 GW of solar capacity in a calendar year was in 2016.
A new agreement signed between Chinese companies and Egyptian government officials is part of Egypt's Green Corridor Initiative to increase the use of renewable energy. The solar projects involved in the agreement are expected to save more than $1 billion per year in natural gas costs. China Power Technology and Equipment Co LTD has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Egyptian government to develop a 10 GW solar project, according to the Egyptian government. The MOU, which was also signed by Egypt's New and Renewable Energy Authority and the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company, paves the way for preliminary studies for the development of the project. The project is expected to generate about 29,784 GWH of electricity per year, helping to reduce about 14 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions and save more than $1 billion per year in natural gas costs. The project is part of Egypt's broader Green Corridor Initiative, which aims to increase the use of renewable energy and reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and is part of the country's efforts for sustainable development.
2023 is coming to an end. In order to enrich the cultural life of employees and enhance the core strength of the team, Xiamen Wintop specially held a five-day team-building activity. This time we went to Xi'an, known as the ancient capital for thousands of years. First, let’s get to know Xi’an. Xi'an is a "World Historic City" identified by UNESCO in 1981. It is one of the important birthplaces of Chinese civilization and the Chinese nation, and the starting point of the Silk Road. Historically, 13 dynasties have established their capitals here. Xi'an is a world-famous historical city, as famous as the world-famous ancient cities such as Rome, Athens, and Cairo. It is also the one with the longest history among the six ancient capitals in China. Two six heritage sites in Xi'an are included in the World Heritage List, namely: Qin Shihuang's Mausoleum and Terracotta Warriors, Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Small Wild Goose Pagoda, Daming Palace ruins in Tang Chang'an City, Weiyang Palace ruins in Han Chang'an City, and Xingjiao Temple Pagoda. There are also Qianling Mausoleum, Xi'an City Wall, Bell and Drum Tower, Huaqing Pool, Huashan Mountain, Zhongnan Mountain, Tang Furong Garden, Shaanxi History Museum, Forest of Steles and other attractions. Next, let us walk into Xi'an and uncover the secrets of this thousand-year-old ancient capital... The Terracotta Warriors and Horses of Qin Shi Huang’s Mausoleum: Known as the “Eighth Wonder of the World”. There are more than 8,000 terracotta warriors and horses. Each terracotta warrior is a warrior who once went into battle to kill the enemy. Each of them is a perfect 1:1 replica of a real person, and each one has a different face. Take our breath away. "The Everlasting City of the Tang Dynasty": This commercial pedestrian street imitating the Tang Dynasty fully demonstrates the prosperity of the Tang Dynasty. Big Wild Goose Pagoda: Located in the Da Ci'en Temple in Jinchangfang, Chang'an City, Tang Dynasty (now south of Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province), it is also known as the "Ci'en Temple Pagoda". In the third year of Yonghui of the Tang Dynasty (652), Xuanzang presided over the construction of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda in order to preserve the Buddhist scriptures and statues brought back to Chang'an from Tianzhu via the Silk Road. It initially had five floors, and was later added to nine floors, with countless more floors and heights. After several changes, it was finally fixed to the seven-story tower that we saw, with a total height of 64.517 meters and a side length of the bottom floor of 25.5 meters. Xi'an Eternal Scenery Area: Taking the story of a Chinese girl who returned to China to find her roots as the main line, it leads tourists to explore national memory. Through the magical time shuttle, we will truly feel the style of the Zhou, Qin, Han and Tang dynasties. Tens of thousands of machines and equipment were in operation, 3,000 tons of flood poured down, and hundreds of cubic meters of yellow sand rus...
